Janiya Martin, senior at Hampton High School, gives opening at the September 7 School Board meeting

 

Janiya Martin, a senior at Hampton High School (HHS), was selected to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and give the opening at the September 7, 2022, School Board meeting. She read a poem entitled 

Fear by Khalil Gibran.

 

Janiya, the senior class president at HHS, enjoys sports and has participated in cheerleading and track and field. Currently, she is a member of the varsity girls volleyball team. She enjoys working with younger children and plans to attend a four-year year university and major in early childhood education with hopes of returning to Hampton City Schools as an elementary school teacher. 

Janiya’s Crabber family joined her at the meeting.
