Bethel High School partners with Hampton University’s School of Pharmacy doctoral students “Gentlemen in White Coats” program

Bethel High School teamed up with the Hampton University School of Pharmacy doctoral students to participate in the “Gentlemen in White Coats” (GIWC) program in 2020. Crystal Stokes, an Academies of Hampton advisory board member is the coordinator for the GIWC program.

While advisory members typically give of their time and expertise or offer students an opportunity to network and engage in real-world learning, this partner went even further to collaboratively work with GIWC who mentored and financially assisted students.

The GIWC director and doctoral student Justin Moody pursued donations from all over the country from former GIWC members and Hampton University alumni and faculty to provide scholarships to two Bethel students. Xavier Everson and Joel Hicks were each awarded a $600 scholarship to help with their higher education. The check presentation was held on May 26, 2021.

“As in prior years, the Gentlemen in White Coats organization has had a strong impact on the community this year. I am profoundly grateful and truly proud of the work that our students and our graduates have done this past year,” said Dr. Anand Iyer, dean of the Hampton University School of Pharmacy. “They are wonderful representatives of our institution, and a testament to our program’s commitment to serving our community. Kudos to them for their hard work and dedication!”
