Daryle Rodgers earns doctorate

 

Congratulations to Daryle Rodgers, coordinator of out-of-school time & extended learning programs for Hampton City Schools. He has earned his doctorate in educational psychology from Regent University.

 

Rodgers earned his B.S. in education from Old Dominion University and a master’s in organizational leadership from Fort Hays State University. Before joining the HCS team nine years ago, he was a teacher, athletic director, coach, and parks and recreation supervisor.

 

In his role as out-of-school time coordinator, the program has been awarded over $12 million in grant funding. In 2019-2020, Rodgers was one of 15 people selected for the National Afterschool Alliance Ambassador Program. He also serves as a mentor for the Virginia Department of Education and is on the Advisory Leadership Council for the Virginia Partnership of Out-of-School Time.

Daryle joined our Hampton City Schools Family in 2012 and immediately began growing our 21st Century Community Learning Center grant funded programs, as well as other out-of-school time opportunities for students. He strengthened our collaborative relationships with our city's School Age Programs (SAP) and community-based providers of out-of-school time opportunities for our young people, and even developed an annual symposium offering professional development for those providers and their employees. He is respected across our Commonwealth and beyond for his professional expertise and appreciated for his warm, friendly demeanor. What a pleasure it is for me to support him in his work!”
