Kecoughtan High School student William Dunn places second in Virginia FBLA Leadership Conference event

William Dunn, a senior at Kecoughtan High School, earned second place in the Political Science event at the virtual Virginia Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference.

William has been a member of FBLA for four years and served as the treasurer/secretary during his sophomore and junior years and is currently serving as president. He has also participated in cross country for the past four years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Beta, Spanish Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. In addition, he participates in Youth in Government. In his spare time William enjoys Hampton BMX bike racing.

William attends the Governors School of Science and Technology. This summer he plans to volunteer at Riverside Regional Hospital. He has also been working on a year-long research project under the guidance of Dr. Rupak Dua from Hampton University. They are trying to replace titanium cages with Poly-Ether-Ketone (PEEK).

William plans to attend the University of Virginia in the fall and major in chemistry. His goal is to become a doctor.

“William is a very pleasant and intelligent young man who always exhibits a positive attitude, a driven work ethic and self-discipline,” said Mona Dozier, KHS FBLA sponsor. “I am so elated for William and all of his accomplishments. I am so proud to have been a part of his high school experience and excited to see how he will develop into a productive leader in society. I wish him the best at FBLA National Competition and college!”

William is eligible to compete in the National Leadership Conference in June.
