School Board appoints student School Board representatives for 2025-2026


The Hampton School Board reappointed Kaleb Lucas, a senior at Phoebus High School, and appointed Saige Holden, a junior at Bethel High School, as the student representatives to the School Board for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition, Ava Tanner, a senior at Bethel High School was appointed as the alternate. The students were appointed and sworn in at the September 3, 2025, School Board meeting.


Kaleb Lucas, a senior at Phoebus High School, is an accomplished student leader with passions for music, politics, and service. He serves as drum major, academy ambassador, and is in his second year as the student representative to the Hampton City School Board. Elected as the 2026 Virginia Youth in Government Association Model General Assembly Attorney General, Kaleb has also been recognized as a Hampton Roads “Top 20 Under Twenty” honoree and National Guide Right High School Student of the Year. He plans to attend an HBCU to study political science and pursue a career in law and politics.


Saige Holden, a junior at Bethel High School in the Academy of Law and Public Safety, is passionate about advocacy and youth leadership. She serves as vice president of the Hampton 4-H Teen Club, a LEAD academy ambassador, and a representative on the Academy of Law and Public Safety Advisory Board, while also playing varsity volleyball for Bethel and Virginia Wave Volleyball Club. Recognized as one of Hampton Roads’ “Top 20 Under 20,” Saige aspires to study political science at Spelman College and pursue a career in law.


Ava Tanner, a senior at Bethel High School, is a student leader committed to academics, service, and advocacy. She serves as lead ambassador for the Academy of Law and Public Safety, president of Alternative World Changers, treasurer of the Student Council Association, and she recently completed her term as junior class president. Recognized nationally for her academic achievements and leadership, including congressional recognition, the National AP Scholar Award, and participation in the CADCA Conference, Ava has also contributed over 200 hours of community service. She aspires to a career in corporate and criminal law and hopes to one day open her own law firm and rehabilitation centers to improve the rehabilitation process in America.
