Next Generation Storytellers Film Festival: Reserve Your Ticket Now

Hampton City Schools (HCS) has teamed up with Next Generation Storytellers for the second year to make show business a reality in Hampton, Virginia.

Over the past few months, our HCS high school students have collaborated with Hollywood actors, producers, directors, and other industry professionals to write, act, and produce high-quality short films. We are thrilled to announce the school division’s second film festival October 18-20, where these films will premiere at the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, VA. In addition to Hampton’s films, productions from Newport News Public Schools and Charleston County School District will also be featured.

The festival will include a Friday evening viewing (invite only), a Saturday (Oct. 19) family-friendly matinee (tickets available), a Saturday evening red carpet event (invite only), and a Sunday (Oct. 20) encore performance matinee (tickets available).

For more information and to reserve your ticket to the event, visit the Next Generation Storytellers website here. The public must have a ticket to enter the film festival. Do not delay, tickets are FREE but are limited and going fast!

HCS will showcase four films, along with debut screenings from Newport News Public Schools and Charleston County School District. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for the Audience Favorite Award during the Friday evening, Saturday matinee, and Saturday evening showings.

Attendees at the Saturday evening event will also experience the thrills and excitement as our winners are announced and awards are presented by special guests for the following: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Staff or Community Member in a Supporting Role, Best Director, Best Picture, and more!

The winning film will be invited to participate in the Virginia Film Festival in late October in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Next Generation Storytellers is led by screen actors Jacob Young (two-time Emmy award-winner known for The Girl Next Door, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and All My Children) and Trent Garrett (known for Disney’s Andi Mack, Netflix’s Army of Thieves, and Fox’s New Girl). Also supporting the Hollywood to Hampton experience and film festival are two-time Emmy award-winning director of photography Roy Wagner; assistant director for Midsommar, Mercedes Williamson; associate producer of the Broadway hit Beauty and the Beast, Mark Rozzano; and special effects production designer Mick Strawn, known for his work on productions such as Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and the 1994 Fantastic Four.

This program is supported by the Virginia Film Commission and sponsored by Sony Red and Black Magic, among others.
