Fine Arts teachers trained through the Chrysler Museum of Art and Arts for Learning

During their recent professional development in-service, elementary and secondary art and music teachers received training in new techniques and applications for their standards of learning, which they will use to lead students.

“This is the beginning of another great school year for the art and music classes. Our outstanding teachers are excited about new and engaging ways to reach students in and through the arts to ensure they are motivated to come to school every day,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.

With Arts for Learning, Gary Garlic led elementary music teachers in drum circle techniques to engage students in rhythm, steady beat, call-and-response, sight-reading, and ad-lib.

Secondary visual art teachers used color theory and a new ice painting technique to connect with science. Emily Cayton with the Chrysler Museum of Art taught this technique.
