Looking for something to do on National STEM Day?
Ever dreamed of flying drones, stepping inside the high-tech Newport News Shipbuilding TO GO MX Trailer, exploring the Go TEC STEM van, or trying your hand at welding with a simulator from the Virginia Ship Repair Association? How about chatting with STEM leaders like NASA legend Julie Williams-Byrd (deputy director of NASA Langley’s systems analysis and concepts directorate), watching robotics competitions, or experimenting in the ODU Innovation Lab? If so, you will not want to miss the 5th Annual STEM Exploration Community event on November 8 - National STEM Day!
This free event, hosted by Hampton City Schools in partnership with the Coastal Virginia STEM Hub, the National Institute of Aerospace, the city of Newport News, Old Dominion University, and Virginia Peninsula Community College, promises a day packed with hands-on STEM excitement for learners of all ages (PreK–adult).
Event Details:
When: Saturday, November 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where: Professional Workforce Development Center, 600 Butler Farm Road, Hampton
Over 40 STEM organizations will be on hand to spark curiosity and creativity. Highlights include the Virginia Zoo, NASA, the National Institute of Aerospace, the Virginia Living Museum, and the city of Hampton’s Touch-a-Truck.
Registration is required (either in advance or on-site) at http://bit.ly/3KufBb0. The event will be held rain or shine, and food trucks will be available on site. Hampton City Schools families, show your school pride by wearing your school shirt.
