Students earn spots in the Virginia Senior Honors Choir and Orchestra

Trinity Horne and Anthony Vu, both Bethel High School (BHS) band members, earned placement in the Senior Regional Orchestra. Trinity played piccolo and earned the principal player chair. Anthony played clarinet and earned the third chair. They auditioned with students from across Southeastern Virginia for spots in the orchestra and performed in the honors concert earlier in the month.

“Trinity and Anthony continue to achieve excellence while representing themselves, the music program, and Bethel High School,” said Jerry Lancaster, BHS band director.

Will Davenport, a Kecoughtan High School (KHS) chorus member, has earned a Virginia Senior Honors Choir position. The audition process included preparing a solo and sight-reading a piece of music at the highest level. He earned one of 132 spots out of the 722 students from around the state who auditioned. He will perform with students at the Virginia Music Educators Conference in Norfolk, VA, this month.

“I am incredibly proud of Will's accomplishments in and outside the music classroom. We can't wait to hear him perform at Senior Honors and represent Kecoughtan High School,” said Corinne Huber, KHS chorus director.

“We are proud of Anthony, Trinity, and Will for their achievements,” said Kelly Dee, Hampton City Schools visual and performing arts curriculum leader. “While their individual achievements are impressive, their contributions to their chorus, band, and school community are further reason to celebrate them and their school music programs.”
