Bethel High School Indoor Drum Line earns third grand champion title

The Bethel High School "Stick and Groove" (SAG) Drumline, under the direction of Jerry Lancaster, band director, and Cameron Cole, percussion instructor, recently competed in the Mid-Eastern Percussion Association (MEPA) drumline circuit, concluding their 2026 season at the MEPA finals, where SAG took first place in the competition. This marks a “clean sweep” for SAG, having placed first in every competition this season. This also gives SAG the title of Grand Champion of the MEPA competition circuit.

This win also marks several achievements for SAG:

  • Three consecutive years as MEPA grand champions
  • Two consecutive undefeated “clean sweep” seasons (a first in the history of Bethel High School)

Known for its culture of excellence, discipline, and innovation, the Stick and Groove Drumline continues to develop young performers into leaders, musicians, educators, and performers at the collegiate and independent levels of the marching arts. Cole, also a Bethel alumnus, has continued the traditions and standards established by previous instructors while elevating the program's performance levels to new heights. Many students who join the program begin with little to no percussion experience and leave as championship performers prepared to succeed both on and off the performance floor.
