5th grade band and chorus shine throughout the year 

The Phillips Elementary School Falcon fifth grade chorus, directed by Elda Garcia, and the Machen Mustang fifth grade band, directed by Cynthia Jones, are part of the Hampton City Schools Out of School Time federal programs. In their fifth year, both groups enrich learning through combining after-school academic and musical study, performing throughout the year, and preparing students to participate in middle school music.

“We are immensely grateful to the Out of School Time and federal programs office for their leadership and collaboration to integrate music. We are proud of the students and directors for their hard work and for sharing their talent with their school and community,” shared Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
