Middle School Honors Chorus celebrates with traditional and Broadway music

We are continuing to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month by congratulating the following students for earning placement in the Hampton City School Honor Chorus and for their performance at the HCS Honor Chorus Concert. The concert is part of our two-day honors concert series each school year. The musical program included Furaha, Little Wheel A Turnin, Found/Tonight, and Seize the Day. Through chorus, students develop collaboration and communication skills by listening closely, blending their voices, and responding to one another as they bring written music to life. These 88 students were selected by their teachers from across all HCS middle schools to be a part of the chorus. The guest conductor was Wanda Mitchell from Hampton University.

“Many of these students also earned placement in the All-District Chorus and are going to be future high school vocalists performing throughout the city and beyond. We are proud of the work they did to bring the music to their families and the community,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
