HHS students volunteer at the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank

On March 10, 2026, several Hope For Rest student ambassadors from the Academy of Technology & Engineering (ATE) at Hampton High School volunteered at the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank to help support local families in need.

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank distributes millions of pounds of food each year to more than 150,000 households across the region. During their volunteer shift, the students helped package more than 700 boxes of food, totaling approximately 14,000 pounds, which will be distributed to families throughout Hampton Roads.

ATE is focused on preparing students for promising careers in engineering, technology, and industry-based professions. The academy combines academic, technical courses, and access to software and technological equipment to help students acquire the skills needed for high demand technology and engineering careers. Experiences include learning and applying the design process, learning essential computer science skills, and using hardware and software in multimedia and systems integration projects. Students in this academy develop their creative and enterprising capacities as they engage in engineering and research projects that inspire their imaginations. The Engineering Design and Development, Information Technology, and Sound Engineering pathways prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed to not only compete, but excel and thrive in the workforce or postsecondary education and training programs.
