Kilgore Gifted Center girls and Jones Magnet Middle School boys volleyball teams win middle school championship

Congratulations to both Kilgore Gifted Center girls and the Jones Magnet Middle School boys who clinched the respective volleyball championship among the Hampton middle schools.


The girls defeated Jones Magnet Middle School 25-23 (Kilgore), 21-25 (Jones), and 16-14 (Kilgore). They are coached by Paula Larson (head coach) and Amy Gonzalez (assistant coach).


The boys defeated Kilgore Gifted Center 25-15 (Jones), 25-23 (Kilgore), and 15-10 (Jones). The team is coached by George Jacobs (head coach) and Darlene Edwards (assistant coach).


“The Jones Jaguar family is incredibly proud of our boys' volleyball team for bringing home the middle school championship,” said Jones principal Sharon Slater. “The team demonstrated tremendous growth over the course of the season. Their dedication, camaraderie, and sportsmanship were evident in every match, making them champions both on and off the court. Congratulations on an unforgettable season!”

Kilgore principal Paul Lawrence said, “We are so proud of our Seahawk players and coaches. This is their second championship in a row and their third in four years. This is a testament to the determination and grit of our girls and the dedication of our coaches and families.”

The middle school athletics program gives students who are eligible to participate in high school sports an opportunity to be a part of an athletics team.
