Kecoughtan High School Advanced Guitar Ensemble receives master class

The Kecoughtan High School (KHS) Advanced Guitar Ensemble members participated in a master class with Grammy-nominated classical and electronic professional guitarist Dr. Thomas Clippinger. He serves on the faculties at Christopher Newport University, Virginia Wesleyan University, and The Governor’s School for the Arts. Tidewater Classical Guitar sponsored the masterclass. 

Dr. Clippinger rehearsed the class during his visit and played two pieces from his repertoire. The students asked about technique, practice strategies, and how to major in guitar in college. 

“This master class had an amazing impact on all of us,” said Jerry Sowers, KHS guitar director.
