Kristel Kirkland, Hampton High School science teacher, earns doctorate
Congratulations to Kristel Kirkland, biology teacher at Hampton High School, for earning her doctorate. She successfully defended her dissertation, Strategies to Reduce High Absenteeism in High Schools: An Applied Improvement Project at Capella University.
Dr. Kirkland earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampton University. She earned a master's in curriculum and instruction from Capella University.
Dr. Kirkland has served Hampton High School for eight years, assuming a variety of leadership roles throughout her tenure, including Freshman Academy team lead, collaborative learning team leader, science instructional leader, and junior class sponsor.
She is proud to be a first-generation doctoral graduate and the first member of her family to earn a doctorate. Her accomplishment reflects her perseverance, commitment to education, and passion for student success.
“Congratulations to Dr. Kirkland on earning her Doctorate in Educational Leadership,” said Hampton High School executive principal Haneef Majied. “Her passion for serving students and families, combined with her exceptional leadership, has strengthened our school community and inspired those around her. We celebrate this outstanding accomplishment and the difference she continues to make every day.”
