Students at Jones Magnet Middle School have short stories published

Ten talented students from Jones Magnet Middle School have been selected by Young Writers to have their work featured in the short story collection Hunted: Fair Game.

This worldwide contest challenged young authors to craft a gripping 100-word short story using provided story starters, all centered around the theme of being hunted in the horror/sci-fi genre.

Congratulations to the following amazing students for their creativity and hard work: Ghania Ashan (grade 7), Priscilla Brown (grade 8), Evelyn Clark (grade 8), Gabriella Esquilin (grade 8), Jacob Harrell (grade 7), Kaileb Hardaway (grade 7), and Michael O'Connell (grade 8).

In addition, the following students from Cairo Maxwell’s class had their stories published as well: Luna Galindo, Adilene Lara, Coltyn Ellison, Lyra Skabia, Helen Youhanna, Kellen Matthews, Reagan Keough, Elijah Woodward, Khloe Thomas, and Eva Menijvar.

Students were tasked with writing and designing their own original short story. Instead of ‘sitting and getting’, this project allowed them to be creative and demonstrate their learning in a novel way. After countless hours of the students planning, drafting, designing, and polishing their books, the results were amazing. Certain students even volunteered to read their stories to the class for a few extra points.
