Hampton High School Maritime Academy hosts end-of-year celebration dinner
Over 75 students, friends, families, and staff gathered for a picnic dinner, generously donated by the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA), a valued partner of our academy.
Academy principal Damien Collins kicked off the event by welcoming everyone and presenting a comprehensive overview of the academy’s achievements throughout the school year. Tim Richardt, Workforce Council/VSRA representative and chair of the Academy Advisory Board, engaged with students and families, discussing promising career opportunities in the maritime industry for graduates. Salina Nikitas from VSRA played a key role in serving guests and ensuring everyone felt welcomed and appreciated. Additionally, Hosea Fitten highlighted exciting new partnership opportunities with Newport News Shipbuilding, which aimed at further enhancing our academy’s offerings.
Following the meal and community fellowship, families toured the learning labs and had the chance to explore the facilities where their students are shaping their futures in the maritime industry.
