Alisa Innes earns doctorate

Alisa Innes, elementary English language arts teacher specialist for Hampton City Schools, recently earned her Ph.D. in Education; Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University. Her dissertation was titled Family Writer’s Workshop – A Case Study that included her creating an eight-week writer’s workshop intervention for children and their families.

Prior to coming to Hampton in 2018, Innes was a reading specialist in Virginia Beach and Norfolk. She began her teaching career as a first grade teacher in Currituck County.

Innes received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Heidelberg University and a Master of Education in Reading from Old Dominion University.
