Hampton School Board is seeking input on criteria of the next superintendent
The Hampton City School Board announced on Thursday, February 2, 2023, that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications.
The School Board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available here and on the Hampton City Schools website at www.hampton.k12.va.us through February 20, 2023. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the school administrative office (1 Franklin Street), at each school, and the public libraries.
In addition to the survey, the board will hold two public hearings on the following dates:
February 16
6:30 p.m.
Fox Hill Neighborhood Center
65 Hall Road
February 18
11:00 a.m.
Mary Jackson Center
231 Lincoln Street
“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task a school board will face and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” said Dr. Richard Mason, School Board chair. “We hope that parents, staff, and residents will take time to fill out the survey or attend the public hearing.”
The School Board selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the board with the superintendent search.
