Kilgore Gifted Center students’ film is named one of five finalists in national contest
Seventh and eighth grade students in Lisa Ann Wilson's digital studio classes at Kilgore Gifted Center participated in the Creative Storm video contest sponsored by the Next Vista for Learning organization. Students from all over the world entered the contest in which the task was to produce a video that taught a concept in 90 seconds or less. The video entitled The Incredible Power of Inferring made by eighth graders Iyanna Johnson, Madison Toraine, and Karessa Williams has been named one of five finalists. Their film has been published to the Next Vista Finalists page.
Kilgore entered four other videos in the contest: How to Tie a Tie by Jaxon Bone and Eryck Brown-Fields, featuring geometry teacher Curtis Blauch; The 9s Trick by Justin Carraway and Roan Whiteside; Life in the Civil War by Andrew Jordan, Abigail Matthews, and Karina Stevens; and Little Billy Learns to Throw by Kyrston Brown, Corbin Poole, and Isabella Silva. You can see all the Creative Storm videos produced by digital studio seventh and eighth graders on the DS Gallery.
“We are waiting for news of the winning film,” said Wilson.
