High school bands shine in the Holly Days Parade
All four Hampton City Schools high school bands (Bethel High, Hampton High, Kecoughtan High, Phoebus High) continued their tradition of entertaining the community in the December 6, 2025, Holly Days Parade. The bands recently earned superior and excellent ratings at the Virginia marching band assessment.
“I am proud of all the students who have had over 50 performances combined at football games, community events like this, and marching band competitions. Their work and performance in their great band from August through December demonstrates their strong commitment to collaboration and citizenship in service to their school. I am also proud of how the students work together to support one another and represent our school system and community with pride. This is the result of the leadership of their great band directors, pictured below, and I am proud to work with all of them,” shared Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
Each band added something special to the parade through its outstanding performance.
“I am so proud of the members of our band for two major reasons. First, we have experienced so much growth, and their level of dedication to the program is unbelievable. Second, these students have so much fun making music together,” said Ronzel Bell, Hampton High School director of bands.
