KHS culinary and Women in STEM clubs spend time with senior citizens
Members of the Kecoughtan High School Culinary and Women in STEM clubs took a field trip to the Commonwealth Senior Living in Hampton. They spent their time visiting and doing crafts with the residents.
The students in the Culinary Club decorated sugar cookies with some of the residents. The Women in STEM Club students helped the residents in making plastic tags that could be used for gift tags or ornaments.
Val Wolfe, the KHS introduction to culinary arts teacher said, “One of the assistants at the senior living center said ‘this was the first time she has seen some residents smile’. For our students, this was just a way to spend time and give back to an older generation who has given so much to our community!”
