Kecoughtan High School students earn honors at FCCLA State Leadership Conference
Kecoughtan High School (KHS) students showcased their skills and leadership during the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference held during the week of March 9, 2026. Competing in a variety of STAR events, students earned recognition for their hard work and dedication, developed through after-school preparation and collaboration with their advisors, Margaret Nettles and Valerie Wolfe.
Students earning medals included Aaliyah Lewis, who received a bronze medal in Early Childhood Education; Ai’Yana McKoy and Cullen Church, who both earned silver medals in Professional Presentation; Jiriya Griffin, who earned a silver medal in Knife Cuts; Ethan Solorzano, who earned a silver medal in Focus on Children; and Roberto Russell, who earned a gold medal in Fashion Construction.
In addition to his state-level success, Roberto Russell will represent Virginia at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer.
Throughout the conference, students also participated in leadership sessions, networking opportunities, and team-building experiences, further strengthening their skills and connections. “This marked the first year for both the advisors and students participating in FCCLA, and we look forward to many more experiences ahead. Students returning next year are already thinking about what they will compete in,” said Wolfe.
