Hampton City Schools students honored at Woman’s Club Annual Art Contest
Students from across Hampton City Schools were recognized for their artistic achievements during the Woman’s Club annual art contest reception.
At the high school level, Jada Mincey of Bethel High School earned first place, followed by Henry Broughton IV of Kecoughtan High School in second, and Phan Lee of Bethel High School in third. Honorable mentions were awarded to Haley Edmondson of Hampton High School and Isabella Torres of Kecoughtan High School.
Middle school winners included Layla Holland of Kilgore Gifted Center with first place, Owen Roederer of Jones Magnet Middle School in second, and Kayla Ramirez-Nava of Kilgore Gifted Center in third. Honorable mentions went to Charlotte Cole and Trinity Fullwood, both of Kilgore Gifted Center.
The Best in Show honor was awarded to Addison Bartlett of Kecoughtan High School.
The event also featured a special musical performance by Kecoughtan High School guitar instructor Jerry Sowers and his student, Raymond West, who performed a selection of duets for attendees.
“Congratulations to all of the students and their teachers for these well-earned achievements,” said Ai Choo Ashe, Hampton City Schools teacher specialist for visual and performing arts.
“Appreciation is extended to the Woman’s Club for hosting the reception and for supporting student creativity and artistic expression.”
