KHS students place in FBLA Virginia State Leadership Conference
Kecoughtan High School’s (KHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter participated in the Virginia State Leadership Conference held April 10–12, 2026, in Reston, Virginia. Students Alex Burns, Shaliya Turner, Christopher Veryzer, Zion Veney, Ariyah McKoy, Xavier Webb, Cassia Van der Linde, Quinn Bartlett, Francisco Santos, and Jason Jenifer II represented the school, competing in business-related events while also attending professional development workshops and general sessions.
Several students earned top honors in their respective events. Cassia Van der Linde placed first in Public Speaking, Quinn Bartlett earned fourth place in Introduction to Business Concepts, and Hannah Huff (not pictured) placed fifth in Journalism. With their strong performances, Cassia and Quinn have qualified to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
“As the lead adviser, I am very proud of these students because they exemplified ‘Every Day Greatness’ through their behaviors, dress, and their drive to do their very best in the competitive events,” said KHS teacher Mona Dozier. “Students enrolled in the Academy of Entrepreneurship and Information Design World Banking and Finances and Information Design pathways have extended learning experiences in FBLA that aim to develop their leadership, speaking, and other professional skills that will help them to become future business leaders.”
