Armstrong teacher publishes children’s book
Congratulations to Aliza Thurkettle, a graduate of Kecoughtan High School and a second grade teacher at Armstrong School for the Arts, for publishing her first book. The book is a children’s story called Avett’s Nose Knows.
The story follows the neighborhood adventures of Thurkettle’s dog and his friend Charlotte searching for peanut butter, picking up friends along the way.
Thurkettle said she has always known her dog was special and wanted to write a book about him. “I told the idea to my second grade class and they pushed me to do it,” she said. “I read them each draft and involved them as much as I could in the writing process.”
The book may be purchased on Amazon.
