5th Grade Honors Chorus students use their voices to celebrate America

For over 25 years, Hampton City Schools has hosted a 5th Grade Honors Chorus Concert. (Even during the pandemic, there were virtual choruses.) This year, over 130 students were selected as the best musicians from their school to prepare their program, America: Using Our Voices! The students performed The Star-Spangled Banner, Lift Every Voice and Sing, City Life/ I Love the Mountains, One Nation, 50 Stars, Love Can Build A Bridge, 50 Nifty, and Sing, America. There was a full audience of family, friends, and community members for their Saturday afternoon performance on April 18. The guest conductor was Kimberly Pearson, Bryan Elementary School music educator.

“It was truly an honor to work with the 5th-grade choir students this year. They were hardworking and committed to delivering a wonderful performance,” said Pearson.

View the concert program. Listen to Fifty Nifty, a song about all fifty United States.

Students from the chorus will reprise some of their program on Saturday, May 2, at the city of Hampton Mosaic Festival on the Mill Point Park-Queen Street stage at 12:30 pm. We hope to see everyone there!
