Mary W. Jackson Elementary celebrates Black History Month with a living wax museum
Mary W. Jackson Fundamental Elementary School celebrated Black History Month during the month of February with a living wax museum.
Students who selected to represent the likeness of an African American hero were from grades three, four, and five. There were learning stations to include the school’s namesake Mary W. Jackson, Harriet Tubman, Faith Ringgold, Thurgood Marshall, Benjamin Banneker, Maggie L. Walker, John Lewis, Rosa Parks, Bessie Coleman, President Barak Obama, Arthur Ashe, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“The entire school was able to visit the museum by appointment and listen while teachers shared the contributions of each person as posted alongside the figures,” said Jackson principal Chanda Mason. “It was a fantastic experience for all participants!”
