The Hampton Commission on the Arts awards grants to teachers
The Hampton Commission on the Arts recently awarded grants to five Hampton City Schools teachers. Each year the grant application is open to all teachers in the Hampton school division. The commission aims to promote creative arts awareness in our community and society. All grant award projects will be completed in the second semester.
“We are appreciative and proud to work with Hampton Arts-Hampton Commission on the Arts to foster teacher and student creativity in all of our schools and city,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
The following teachers were awarded grants:
Deborah Taylor - The One Hundred Years of Art Exhibition - Armstrong School for the Arts
Christie Liddell - My Black is Beautiful (Cultural Awareness/Cultural Sensitivity) - Bethel High School
Suann Strickland - Music as an Agent of Social Change: from the Harlem Renaissance to Civil Rights - Jones Magnet Middle School
Shaun Redd - The Addams Family Building a Better Set Model - Kecoughtan High School
Gineff McKinney - Machen Stars Learning Murals Project - Machen Elementary School
