Students earn more than 14,000 dual enrollment credits since 2015 saving families over $2 million
Hampton City Schools students have earned 14,348 dual enrollment (DE) credits over the past five years. This reflects a 753% increase in DE credits earned and a combined total savings of $2,238,288 for families to date.
The first dual enrollment courses were offered in 2015-2016. The credits earned that school year totaled 518. Over the last five years, the division’s commitment to providing more opportunities to young people has continued to grow, along with enrollment in DE. Student participation in dual enrollment courses and credits earned, have steadily increased.

We are particularly pleased with the continued growth in the dual enrollment credits earned by our students during these challenging times of a pandemic.”
Dual credit allows high school students to enroll in college-level courses and earn credit prior to high school graduation. The three most common dual credit opportunities are Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Dual Enrollment (DE).
In addition to earning a competitive college degree and/or transferable college credit(s) at no
cost, while in high school, students experience several other benefits, including access to:
- rigorous, college-level courses
- college resources, such as tutoring, research databases, and library services at TNCC
- monthly enrichment opportunities to include guest speakers, college visits, workshops, and service-learning projects
Hampton City Schools provides students with a smooth transition to the college experience. The support, encouragement, and assistance needed to ensure students stay on track are provided by college and career coaches, mentors, TNCC instructors, academy teams, as well as a close-knit cohort of peers striving for the same goals.

All individuals are encouraged to promptly report any incident they believe to be discrimination, harassment or retaliation in violation of HCS School Board Policy. All reports should be made to the HCS Compliance Officer, who also serves as the HCS Executive Director of Human Resources and Title IX/ADA Coordinator. Upon receiving a report of alleged discrimination, harassment or retaliation, the Compliance Officer shall promptly authorize an investigation into the complaint, determine whether the alleged act occurred, and determine whether any action must be taken to end or prevent further harassment, discrimination, or retaliation. The majority of pages in our site are available in HTML format that can be deciphered by screen readers. Some documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF), which require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.

The HCS website is designed and monitored by HCS Webmaster Vickie Carper, who serves as the gatekeeper for website content and accessibility. The Webmaster is under the direction of the Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing, supervised by the Director of Graphics.
