Susan Booth of Jones Magnet Middle School invited to serve on Vaccine Education Project Advisory Board

Susan Booth, Jones Middle School science teacher, has been invited to serve on the Vaccine Education Project Advisory Board. Her role is to serve as an advisory board member to concentrate educational efforts on how best to inform school children, teachers, and parents about vaccinations and the importance of them. Booth was invited to participate by the project’s principal investigator Edward B. Lewin, M.D. Lewin is a research professor with the Milken Institute of Public Health George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

The Vaccine Education Project (VEP) is a program intended to educate children on vaccine science. They have developed a series of user-friendly videos to educate youth that vaccinations are an important personal, and societal way to curb or eliminate harmful diseases from affecting and killing individuals.

“Improving science education may improve not only a child's economic prospects but his or her health status as well. Children who learn about health and the science that underpins it will be better equipped to make smart choices,” stated Elias A. Zerhouni, former National Institutes of Health (NIH) director.
