Lee MartinLee Martin of Bethel High School receives recognition as a Certified Athletic Administrator

Lee Martin, athletic director at Bethel High School, has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as a Certified Athletic Administrator.

To earn this distinction, Martin demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of his educational background, experience and professional contributions, as well as a rigorous, comprehensive written examination. NIAAA recognizes Martin as one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.

Martin previously served as the athletic director of Kecoughtan High School before becoming the athletic director at Bethel in 2015. He also held positions as teacher, coach, and dean of students.

“Lee is currently the longest running AD in Hampton City Schools, and as such he serves as both a mentor and friend to his colleagues,” said Bethel Principal Ralph Saunders. “We are very proud of Lee Martin and his recent recognition as a Certified Athletic Administrator by the NIAAA.”

Beth Mair, athletic director for Hampton City Schools said, “Lee Martin has always been hard working and professional in his roles within Hampton City Schools. We are very proud to say that Lee is on our HCS team.”

The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 12,000 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of interscholastic athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.
