Armstrong School for the Arts teacher donates to charity from mask sales
Sandra Dianna, a second-grade teacher at Armstrong School for the Arts, has been busy making masks since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early March of 2020 and has donated $1,500 to charity.
Dianna estimates she has made over 6,000 masks since the onset of the pandemic. She has donated masks to local hospitals, nurses, nursing homes, and other health care providers. In addition, she has donated $1,500 to the Ezer Initiative from sales of the masks. The Ezer Initiative has been helping and sheltering the homeless in place since March.
In May of this year, Dianna was recognized for her efforts by WTKR and their People Taking Action Award. She was surprised on camera and presented with a plaque and gift card.
Hampton City Schools is fortunate to have so many community partners that support our students and schools. The division is equally fortunate to have staff members who give back and support the community.
