HCS staff members join Governor Northam at the signing of HB1776

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many educators were unable to complete the necessary requirements to renew their licenses. Delegate Jeion Ward submitted HB1776 for consideration by the Virginia General Assembly which gives individuals extra time to complete requirements. The bill was accepted and passed.

With the passing of HB1776, the Virginia Board of Education grants a two-year extension of the license of any individual licensed by the Board whose license expires on June 30, 2021, in order to provide the individual with sufficient additional time to complete the requirements for licensure.

Susanne Marcella, HCS human resources manager, along with Tarrant Middle School teachers Terrell Brooks and Tammi Haggins-Ledbetter joined Governor Ralph Northam, Delegate Ward, and Deputy Secretary of Education Kathy Burcher in Richmond on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, when the bill was signed.
