Bethel High School teacher Sierra Jones earns doctorate
Dr. Sierra Jones, English teacher at Bethel High School, has successfully defended her dissertation, “From Freshmen to Forever: Do High School Transitions Shape Lifelong Success?” and earned her doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Dayton.
Her research examined the critical transition into high school, exploring the challenges students face and the factors that contribute to long-term success. Findings emphasized the importance of self-advocacy, social-emotional awareness, and parental collaboration in helping students navigate this pivotal stage.
Dr. Jones has taught English for nine years, working with grades 9–12. She has also contributed to the Freshman Academy for seven years and is currently working with the Governor’s Health Sciences Academy.
Bethel High School executive principal Dr. Tanya Howard praised Dr. Jones for her dedication to both her students and her scholarship.
