Paragon Cleaning awards school supplies to Aberdeen Elementary School

Aberdeen Elementary School recently received $1,000 in school supplies for having the most teacher nominations for the Teachers Who Shine contest, sponsored by Paragon Cleaning.

The contest ran through the month of August and allowed one nomination per email address per teacher. Four weekly recipients received a $250 Amazon gift card or an equivalent direct purchase from a classroom wish list, at the recipient’s choice. The four weekly recipients from different schools were chosen by Paragon Cleaning staff based on demonstrated classroom need, impact on students, and the strength of the nomination, with an effort to represent schools across the region. Nicole Wheeler, president of Paragon, said over 700 teachers were nominated during the contest, with so many amazing stories. Aberdeen rose to the top with the most nominations. Jaz Sedgwick, a third grade teacher at Aberdeen, received the top nominations for their school.

“It is a great feeling to be recognized; that always makes me feel special,” said Sedgwick. “It invokes my purpose of why I do what I do.”

Boxes of supplies were received including pencils, markers, post-it notes, scissors, folders, and more. Jasmin Royal, Aberdeen’s principal said she tried to make sure each teacher receives something off of their wish list.

 

“We are so appreciative of the generous donation from Paragon. The contest itself is a testament to the strong school community that surrounds and partners with Aberdeen Elementary,” said Royal. “We are especially grateful to everyone who took the time to vote, share the contest, and encourage others to support our school. The outpouring of support truly demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together for our students. Our teachers work so hard each day to pour into our students, support their growth, and create meaningful learning experiences. It is incredibly special when our community comes alongside us to recognize that work and invest in our students and staff. This is truly Aberdeen Pride in action!”
