Christian Elementary fourth grader wins Food Friends drawing contest

Santana Rainey, a fourth grader at Christian Elementary School, was named the winner of the Food Friends drawing contest, earning the honor of having his artwork featured on the cover of the contest’s book.

The Food Friends drawing contest is an art competition for children ages 4 to 12 that encourages young artists to use their imaginations to create original characters made from food. From a singing cucumber or a baseball-playing carrot to sushi on roller skates, the contest challenges children to transform everyday foods into fun, friendly or even villainous characters.

Selected drawings are published in full color in the Food Friends book, with the overall winning entry featured on the front cover.

In addition to seeing his artwork of a hotdog spinning a basketball published on the cover, Santana received a special goody bag filled with art supplies to encourage him to continue creating.

Congratulations to Santana on this exciting accomplishment and for using his creativity and artistic talents to bring his Food Friend to life!
