Kylie and Douglas Carter, fourth graders at Burbank Elementary, give opening at October 7 School Board meeting

Kylie and Douglas Carter, fourth graders at Burbank Elementary School, were selected to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and give the opening at the October 7, 2026, School Board meeting. They shared a selection called I Am Somebody, written by Daniel M. Buggs and edited by LaTonya Harris.

 

Kylie likes basketball, swimming, and art and her favorite subjects are reading and writing. Douglas likes basketball and soccer and his favorite subject is math.

Their mother, and Burbank principal Rasán Holmes joined them at the meeting.
