Hampton City Schools receives over $214k school security equipment grant from the Virginia Department of Education
Hampton City Schools (HCS) has received over $214,000 in state School Security Equipment Grants to protect students, faculty and visitors. The $12 million in grants from the Virginia Department of Education were awarded to 433 schools in 99 school divisions.
“Ensuring a safe learning environment is our top priority at Hampton City Schools,” said James Bailey, HCS security supervisor. “This school security grant enables us to strengthen our safety measures through upgraded technology and equipment. The funding will support projects such as upgrading school bus radios and public address systems, enhancing visitor management equipment, purchasing additional weapons detection units, two-way radios, and servers, and implementing other critical security system improvements.”
A local match of 25 percent is required of most divisions.
