HCS celebrates the heart of student transportation – its bus drivers and attendants

The Hampton City Schools Transportation Department went all out on Thursday, October 9, 2025, to celebrate its dedicated bus drivers and bus attendants. The staff enjoyed a fun-filled day complete with gifts, t-shirts, lunch, and lively entertainment.

This celebration was made possible through the generosity of several community partners:

  • Carrie Dennett of Kingmor Supply, Inc. donated t-shirts for the entire transportation staff in memory of Kingmor’s late president, Floyd Morris (Carrie’s father). Kingmor has proudly partnered with HCS Transportation for 27 years.
  • Keith Foster, in collaboration with Charles Holloway and Cassandra Krah of The Holloway Experience Realty Group, provided hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, water, and all the supplies needed to serve lunch for the entire team. Foster also brought cornhole boards and set up tents so staff could enjoy lunch together in fellowship.
  • Anthony Davis contributed his DJ talents, keeping the atmosphere upbeat and engaging throughout the celebration.
  • Jerry Lancaster, band director at Bethel High School, and the Bethel drumline donated their time and talent to welcome drivers as they arrived.
  • Edwina Forrest and the HCS Food & Nutrition Services Department provided delicious cookies to round out the meal.

“Our bus drivers and attendants play an essential role in the success of Hampton City Schools,” said Dr. Raymond Haynes, HCS superintendent of schools. “They are often the first and last faces our students see each day, setting a positive tone for learning and ensuring our students arrive safely. We are deeply grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and the care they show to our children and families. I also want to commend Darrin Wills, our director of transportation, and his team for their outstanding leadership and commitment to fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and appreciation within the department.”

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all our bus drivers and attendants for their dedication to transporting our students safely each day—and to all the generous sponsors who helped make this special celebration possible.
