USAF Langley Winds perform for the Jones Magnet Middle School band

Students at Jones Magnet Middle School recently enjoyed a special performance by Langley Winds, a wind quintet from the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band based at Langley Air Force Base here in Hampton. Performing for sixth-through eighth-grade band students, the ensemble brought chamber music to life through an engaging program of classical and contemporary masterpieces. 

“It is such an impactful partnership we share with the USAF Heritage of America Band and its members,” said Jones band director Amy Fatek. “It is so important for young musicians to see their instrument and musicianship live and in action on the stage.”  

The visit marked the second performance by a Heritage of America Band ensemble at Jones this school year. It gave students a firsthand look at the artistry, discipline, and career opportunities available through military music service.
