Food and nutrition services workers are honored during School Lunch Super Hero Day

On May 3, 2024, School Lunch Super Hero Day was celebrated by the food and nutrition services department, honoring the dedicated school nutrition professionals who provide nutritious meals to Hampton City Schools children. The celebration included music, good food, door prizes, and lots of fun.

The occasion also marked the unveiling of the department's new logo and showcased their new food truck. Food and nutrition services director Edwina Forrest commended her staff for their outstanding efforts, serving over 8,700 breakfasts and 12,000 lunches daily, adhering to USDA nutrition standards, and making a significant difference in the lives of our students. The office is dedicated to serving every child nutritious meals that fuel successful learning.

“I want to give a huge thank you to the best food service superhero team for their continued commitment to championing healthy meals for our students in Hampton,” said Brittany Branch, chief academic officer.
