Phenix girls and Kilgore boys win middle school basketball championships
Congratulations to the Phenix PreK-8 School girls basketball team and the Kilgore Gifted Center (KGC) boys basketball team for winning the Hampton City Schools middle school championship for 2025. The girls, with a regular season record of 7-1, defeated Eaton Fundamental Middle School with a score of 51-18. Their coaches are Chiquita Harris-Cobb, Calvin Cobb, Theon Paige, and Ebonee Green. The boys had a regular season record of 8-0 and defeated Syms Middle School 35-15 for the championship. The Kilgore coaches are Derrick Todd, William Pigford, and DJ Todd.
“I am incredibly proud of our girls’ basketball team for an outstanding season and for bringing home the championship! Your hard work, teamwork, and determination have inspired our entire school community. Congratulations on this well-deserved victory. You have shown what it means to lead with Panther Pride,” said Phenix principal Robin Hunt-Crenshaw.
Kilgore principal Paul Lawrence said, “Everyone at Kilgore Gifted Center is tremendously proud of our boys. These young men have won three championships in three years. This has everything to do with our amazing coaches and our dedicated families. Here's to our Seahawks and their continued success!”
