START ON SUCCESS culmination program recognizes student interns

The culminating program of START ON SUCCESS was held at the Virginia Air and Space Science Center (VASSC), compassionately led by Miguel Incorminias, special education teacher at Bethel High School (BHS) on May, 22, 2025. The BHS students, Justice Benard, Josiah Copeland, Jayden Hill, and Xander Dickerson presented themselves with confidence and poise, showcasing their growth and readiness for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

Special recognition goes to Kim Ward, VASSC’s gallery engagement manager and the newest member of the team, for her innovative contributions and energy that elevated the program this year. Dr. Jeffery Smith, VASSC executive director, addressed attendees, delivering moving remarks that highlighted the vital role of family support in student success.

Two interns, Xander Dickerson and Jayden Hill, were honored for volunteering over 100 hours—a significant VASSC milestone. Each received a one-year family pass to the science center, merchandise discounts, and museum admission.

“We wish you the best of luck in reaching for the stars and landing exactly where you want to be,” said Sherry Hildebrandt, Hampton City Schools transition specialist for exceptional students.
