HCS students participate in New Horizons Career Selection Day
The New Horizons Regional Education Centers’ (NHREC) BUILD Hampton Roads Good Life Solution (GLS) Career Selection Day, representing the six Greater Peninsula school divisions, was held on May 8, 2025, at Liberty Live Church in Hampton. Eighty-one seniors made their career selection and signed on with 24 regional employers who have pledged to hire and retain the graduating high school seniors through the GLS Program. The event marked a major milestone for students beginning their careers in high-demand fields across the region.
Billy Taylor, chairman of the board for the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, delivered the keynote address, encouraging students to embrace their roles as the future of the skilled workforce and reminding them of the critical value they bring to local industries.
