Middle School Honor Band performs an exciting and eclectic program

We continue to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month by congratulating the following students for earning placement in the Hampton City Schools (HCS) Honor Band and for their performance at the HCS Honor Band Concert. The concert is part of our two-day honors concert series each school year. The musical program included Blackthorn March, Egyptique, Dark Star, and Party Rock Anthem.

Students in the school band learn leadership as they practice, perform, and contribute their individual parts to a larger musical ensemble. These 101 students auditioned with classmates from across all HCS middle schools to earn placement in the band. The guest conductor was Bernard Bradley from Kings Fork High School.

“We are proud of the work the students did in only one day to bring their excellent program together for their families and the community. Select students in the band also earned placement in the All-District Band and will be future high school band members performing throughout the city and our community next fall,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
