Kecoughtan High School chorus celebrates major competition wins
It was a standout weekend (February 27-28, 2026) for the Kecoughtan High School (KHS) chorus as students earned multiple awards during their second competition of the season at Hanover High School.
On Friday, Touch of Jade competed in the AA Division, earning 3rd Place overall. The group was also presented with the Kindness Award, selected by the school hosts, student hosts, and parent volunteers. Atleigh Smoot was named Best Soloist in the AA Division, while Maddy Phipps and Bayleigh Butler each received Showmanship Awards.
On Saturday, Harbor Lights continued the momentum in the A Division. The group earned Best Costumes while competing against powerhouse programs including Cosby High School and Manchester High School. Harbor Lights also received the Kindness Award for the second consecutive day and was recognized with Best Social Media for its Instagram presence, @khschorus. Jared Lawrence and Bri Smith were honored with Showmanship Awards.
“A great chorus team doesn’t just sing the same notes — they breathe together, trust together, and turn many voices into one unforgettable sound,” said academy principal Llew Radford. “The Kecoughtan High School chorus continues to excel and exhibit characteristics of a great chorus team. Throughout this chorus season they have achieved several accomplishments while maintaining a posture of kindness and community while singing with the sound of unity. We are proud of the hard work and effort of our students.”
The impressive weekend highlights the talent, dedication, and positive spirit of the Kecoughtan High School Chorus as they continue a strong competition season.
