Cheyanne Mayo of Phoebus High School earns VHSL state track title
Congratulations to Cheyanne Mayo, a sophomore at Phoebus High School, for earning the VHSL Class 4 Girls 55 meters hurdles state championship. In addition, she earned 2nd place in the 55 meters, 2nd place in the long jump, 2nd place in the triple jump, and 3rd place in the 300 meters, while also placing 4th in the high jump.
Cheyanne is a member of the Class of 2028, who competes at a high level in sprints, hurdles, and jumps, showcasing exceptional speed, explosiveness, and athletic range across multiple events.
During the 2026 indoor season, Cheyanne recorded personal bests of 7.11 in the 55 meters, 8.17 in the 55m hurdles, and 40.18 in the 300 meters. In the field events, she posted marks of 18’3” in the long jump, 36’7.5” in the triple jump, and 5’4” in the high jump, highlighting her powerful takeoff ability and strong technical development.
At the regional level, Cheyanne captured the Region 3A/4A High Jump title with a personal best of 5’4”, while also earning 1st place in the long jump, further demonstrating her versatility and competitive edge.
Known for her work ethic, competitiveness, and ability to contribute across multiple events, Cheyanne continues to progress each season. With her combination of speed, power, and multi-event capability, she is developing into a strong collegiate prospect with the potential to impact both sprint and jump events at the next level.
