Kaaliyah Edwards, eighth grader at Phenix PreK-8 School, gives opening at the March 19 School Board meeting

 

Kaaliyah Edwards, an eighth grader at Phenix PreK-8 School, was selected to give the opening at the March 19, 2025, School Board meeting. She read an excerpt from The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman. 

Kaaliyah enjoys dancing, reading, and crocheting. Her favorite subject is civics.

Kaaliyah’s parents, grandmother, teacher Z. J. Pace, and Phenix principal Robin Hunt-Crenshaw joined her at the meeting.
